There are times I wonder all the story I read about they are too broken to love, too broken for another relationship.
But how broken are they? Too sad because somebody dump her/him..?Her significant other cheated on her/him? With his/her bestfriend? Those dramatic scenario that we often watch on TV show or drama?
I read this couple that are truly broken. At least that is what I thought.
This particular young man was in love with this girl since elementary school.
His father pointed her out on his first day at school. His father said, ' See that little girl? I wanted to marry her mother but she ran off with a coal miner.'
He was geniunely curious and asked ' A coal miner? Why did she want a coal miner when she could've you?' And his father said, 'Because when he sings.. even the bird stop and listen'.
So there was this music period, she sang this song that he was sure that the birds stop and listen.
That was when he fallen for her. Hard and fast.
Do a little boy knows what is love?
I don't know but it was proven when this boy love her until sixteen. Even the girl didn't realize his very existence. He watched this girl loses her father. Watched her changed from cheerful, happy to sullen and hostile. He never dare to talk to her. But he let his action speak. He risked getting beat to lean her a hand.
In his sixteenth year of life, both he and the girl was chosen to be in a game. A game where 24 tributes have to kill each other, the last one who lives will become the victor of the game.
And he always has a plan. He planned to sacrifices himself so that she could live. The plan didn't went quite as smooth but they both live.
They live but they were scarred for eternity. They live but they were thrown into another game. Again. His plan never change. It's always to keep the girl he loves alive.
The girl knows his love to her now. She felt like he owe him a lot, before the game, in the game and after the game. Now that they have another game, the only way she could think of to repay, is to keep him alive.
After this second game, he was hijacked by villian in the story and his memories had been manipulate.
The villian makes him thinks the girl he loves so much wanted to kill him and is some sort of mutation.
He came back trying to kill the girl he loves more than himself , the girl he treasures so much. Of course, fortunately, his trial to kill was unsuccessful.
He gone through all the treatment to get back to his normal self but his memories are a mess.
Sometimes he don't know what is real and what's not. Even the memories of his family are messed.
He often has this flashback where he went mad and try to murder the girl. He tried to stay sane and he gave up. He willed the girl to leave him to death.
Of course the girl hadn't let him.
When the war is finally over, he had no home to go back to. His family died during the revolution. The town he grown up in was bombed into wasteland.
He lives in his new home neighbor to the girl. The girl, the love of his life, who is as damaged as him. He waited and he worked for it.
The effort he made was result with, the girl he loves, become his wife and mother of his children.
This particular girl loses his father in a mine explosion.
And her mother was gone altogether with his father, mentally. Her mother didn't pick up the responsibility to keep the family moving.
Her life was never the same after all.
She as a eleven years old girl shoulders the world.
She hunt illegal to feed her precious little sister and her mother. She risked to get punish if she ever get caught.
She almost starve to death if it weren't the boy with the bread helped her.
In her sixteenth year of life, she volunteered herself to save her sister that was unfortunately picked to participate a sick game. She won but her life was never the same again.
She saved the boy who love her more than anything.
She was forced into a rebellion. Specifically, to be the face of rebellion, to united the people for the rebellion.
Whereas the boy who love her, who she feels like she owe him so much that only way to repay him is to keep him alive, was held in captive by their enemy. People told her she could live a thousand lifetime and doesn't deserve him. And she also wasn't planning to.
Little did she know she had fallen for him. Bit by bit, he wormed his way to her heart.
During the period the boy was hold in captive he was tortured for information, tortured whenever she makes a move.
She knew it too late.
Only then she knew she couldn't live without him. She had became malfunction without him by her side.
The rebels were forced to rescue him. When she thought everything is gonna be alright, when all she wanted to do is wrap in his arm and forget about the world. He came back different, he strangled her, tried to kill her.
She was broken. She collect herself up to revenge toward those who did this to their life.
When she thought things couldn't get any worst, the worst of the worst happened. Her little sister who she tried so hard to shield from the cruelty of the world was killed in this explosion.
This explosion which her best friend had contribute the idea.
Her world collapsed. She retreated to her shell, in her grief, in her own world.
One day, she realized the boy with the bread, the boy who love her and she realize she love him back but was too late, live next to her. She saw him planting primrose in the garden in remembrance of her sister.
He stayed to support her.
He stayed patience, kind and loving to her
Sooner, she grew out of the grieve. She learned how to cope with it.
Sooner, he became her rock, her strength, her sun. He's always been there for her.
She knew she loves him. But she don't know if the boy ever felt the same after all the things they went through.
Their life goes on, the boy has become a constant in her life.
The boy let his actions speak the love for him.
After living along for days and months, going through stuff and things together, they confessed.
They lead a long run in their relationship.
She married him and gave birth to their daughter and son.
Now, this is what called broken for me. They had been break into pieces.
